Electric boilers are a great upgrade for many homes. However, if you’re one of these 5 kinds of people then you need to grab one as soon as possible!

1) You’re Off The Grid

With gas boilers being slowly phased out, there’s almost no point connecting your home to the gas grid if it isn’t already. It’s an expensive, time-consuming process with very few benefits. Therefore, if your home is off the gas grid, electric boilers are a great low-cost, low-carbon option.

2) You Want To Keep Things Green

It’s incorrect to say that electric boilers are carbon neutral. They don’t produce any emissions on site however. They still do have a carbon footprint, because the electricity they use has to come from somewhere. This could be from non-renewable sources of power.

However, unlike gas boilers, electric boilers could potentially be entirely carbon neutral with a little bit of planning. You could get a green tariff through your energy supplier. You could also take matters into your own hands with a domestic solar panel array.

In the long term, the UK is making a marked pivot towards renewable energy, so electric heating will slowly get cheaper and greener over time. Gas boilers never will.

3) Your Home Is Small

Electric boilers are at their best when they can warm your home quickly. This makes them a good fit for smaller homes. This helps offset the fact that electricity is more expensive compared to gas.

Good insulation can also help with this, which is cheaper to sort out if your home is on the smaller side.

As an added bonus, electric boilers are very compact. They don’t need flues and they can be easily installed in cupboards. This leaves you with more space for things you actually want in your home, including utility rooms and larger kitchens.

4) Heat Pumps Aren’t An Option

We think heat pumps are amazing. Their 300% efficiency rate means they’re basically incomparable in terms of getting the most out of every watt. However, they aren’t an option for many people.

For example, heat pumps need a large amount of outdoor space, which a lot of UK homes don’t have. They’re also quite complicated to install. Even if you can afford the initial cost of the heat pump, the installation process might be prohibitive, especially if you don’t qualify for any grants.

Electric boilers don’t reach the same efficiency level, but they’re a lot simpler to install, making them a solid alternative.

5) You Can’t Be Bothered With Constant Maintenance

This is a great perk for any home, but it’s especially important if you live in a high rise or rural area, where it might be trickier for a gas engineer to reach you. Electric boilers don’t need as much maintenance work as gas boilers, and they’re a lot less dangerous if something does go wrong. They’re a lot less legislated as a result.
