However, there are three major factors that mean this is a lot less cut and dried than you’d think.
One) The increase in renewable sources of energy throughout the UK is only increasing, while supplies of gas will only decrease in the years to come. This will make electricity cheaper.

Gas is going to run out some day, and most likely sooner than we think. This is completely unavoidable, so you WILL need to stop relying on a gas boiler eventually.
Even before supplies literally run dry, more and more of it will be reserved for industries that will struggle to use renewables, which means the cost will go up and up until it becomes inaccessible for most ordinary people.
That’s all assuming that supplies aren’t continuously disrupted by more geopolitical events like the war in Ukraine.
